Join Lewi as he undertakes an incredible journey from the UK to Indonesia to raise money for the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation. Even when Lewi's journey is over, his work isn't. With the money he raises, Lewi is going to help build a school for the children he is riding for. Every mile makes a difference. Let’s create change together.
I’m 29 and from the United Kingdom, but I’ve rarely stayed in one place. Over the past few years, I’ve travelled to more than 36 countries, not just to see the world, but to serve it. I’ve worked with NGOs, helping rebuild schools and homes destroyed by natural disasters, in places where the world had moved on, but the people couldn’t. It was in those quiet moments, brick by brick, that I found my purpose: giving back.
I’ve always believed adventure and purpose can share the same road. Cycling around the world is more than a test of endurance. It’s a chance to connect with people, stories, and causes that matter. For me, this journey is about making a difference, which is why I’ve dedicated it to the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation.
The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation helps children in the Philippines’ most hard-to-reach communities access education. For many, the journey to school means swimming. The foundation steps in with boats, classrooms, bridges, scholarships, and above all, hope.
Through this ride I want to raise awareness and funds to support their work. At the finish line, I’ll meet the team and, with the money raised, help build a new school. Every kilometre I pedal represents the distance children travel to reach their dreams, whether by foot, swim, or paddle. My journey will cross borders. Theirs crosses poverty, geography, and inequality.
One person, one bike, one cause can spark real change. If this ride helps build one more boat or sends one more child to school, then every climb, every flat tyre, and every mile will have been worth it.
The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation is a Philippine-based non-profit established in 2010. It strives to guarantee that children in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) can access quality education by providing them with what is effectively a “school bus on water”—bright yellow boats to commute to school safely.
The founders were moved by a story of children in a coastal village near Zamboanga who had to swim to school, often with plastic bags over their heads to keep their books dry. A Facebook post by co‑founder Jay Jaboneta sparked swift national support, leading to the first yellow boat being donated within a week. The yellow hue, drawing inspiration from school buses, became a potent symbol of hope, access, and opportunity.
Join me on a journey of hope and change as I cycle the world to support communities in need. Together, we can make a difference, one mile at a time.
Lewi’s world cycle will push him to his limits. He’ll face brutal climbs, searing heat, freezing descents, and endless roads with little shelter. Storms, rough terrain, and border crossings will test his resilience, while isolation and exhaustion will challenge his spirit. Yet every setback will serve as a reminder of why he rides: to help children in remote Philippine communities overcome the barriers of poverty, geography, and inequality to reach education.
